Portfolio administration

What are, and how are portfolios used

To get started with positions in Nordkap, at least one portfolio must be created in Portfolio Administration.

If no portfolio is created, no positions can be imported or manually added.

  • A position must belong to at least one portfolio.
  • A position can belong to more than one portfolio.
  • You can change the name of a portfolio at any time.
  • A portfolio can only be deleted if it is empty; note that completed positions may remain in the portfolio, or properties may be associated with the portfolio.

Using Portfolios in Nordkap

A well-structured and organized set of portfolios can streamline work in Nordkap, making the system even more efficient.

Examples of portfolios that may be useful to use:

  • Usage: Portfolio - Residential Property, Business Operations
  • Geographic Area: Portfolio - South Region, West Region, East Region, North Region
  • Type of Position: Portfolio - Internal, External

To maximize the value and utility of Nordkap's Position View, there should be a clear structure for the portfolios you work with.

To maintain clear filtering and sorting, a position should not be placed in too many portfolios. Instead, it is better to have more portfolios with clear purposes, as the filter in the Position View captures the combination of portfolios as a distinct property.

We can see below that positions solely in the Certificate and External Loan portfolios are distinct from those in two portfolios, External and Swap. The filter thus distinguishes different types of external positions, as some of them also belong to an additional portfolio.
